Reading the table
A solar eclipse is a new moon exact enough to put the Moon in front of the Sun; a lunar eclipse is a full moon that carries the Moon through Earth's shadow. That is why they arrive in pairs about two weeks apart, and why they come back to the same part of the zodiac for a year or more at a time.
